Here I Am, Lord. Send Me
A Devotional for Men Who Refuse to Sit This One Out
Scripture
“And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, ‘Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?’
Then I said, ‘Here I am! Send me.’”
— Isaiah 6:8 (ESV)
Devotional
God wasn’t asking for input. He was calling for obedience. And Isaiah responded.
But he didn’t do it casually or out of raw emotion. He had just encountered the holiness of God. He knew he wasn’t clean—and then he was made clean. Only after that did the question come: “Whom shall I send?”
Isaiah’s answer wasn’t flippant. It was the answer of a man who knew who God was and what that meant for him.
He wasn’t volunteering to feel useful. He was stepping into a commission that already existed. He said yes to a mission already written.
That’s the posture of a godly father. You’re not called to invent your own purpose—you’ve already been given one. Scripture doesn’t leave it vague: lead your family. Teach your children. Love your wife. Bear the burden of spiritual leadership in your home.
But the problem isn’t that men don’t know they’re called—it’s that too many are slow to move. They’re waiting for conditions to feel right. They’re waiting to feel ready.
But readiness isn’t a feeling. It’s a decision.
Isaiah didn’t ask for clarity on outcomes. He didn’t wait for a strategic outline. He simply said yes—and prepared to obey.
And that’s what you’re called to do. You don’t need to come up with a mission. You need to show up for the one already assigned to you.
If the Lord called you into the thickest battle of spiritual warfare to slay demons, how quickly would you respond?
Then ask yourself: how quickly do you step into the role you’ve already been called to?
Gut Check
Where am I waiting for clarity instead of stepping into conviction?
Do I treat fatherhood like a divine commission—or just a job I’ll try not to mess up?
Have I said yes to God—but delayed in the work He already laid before me?
Prayer
Lord,
You’re not looking for performance. You’re looking for obedience.
I don’t want to live stalled out, distracted, or passive.
You’ve already called me.
You’ve already given me my assignment.
Help me to stop waiting. Help me to start building.
Here I am, Lord. Send me.
Amen.
